About The Role.
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for overall leadership to mechanics, project engineers and managers in determining and carrying out the best maintenance practices for equipment reliability and total cost of ownership. The Reliability Engineer works independently or as team members to assess, design, train and implement preventive maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and reliability continuous improvement programs. Reliability Professionals have diverse experience in organizational management, maintenance and reliability, as well as practical experience in plant reliability and/or maintenance management. These individuals normally have exceptional skills and knowledge in particular areas such as work flow management, PM optimization, maintenance technology and/or reliability continuous improvement through FMEA, RCA, RCM, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and other statistical methods. Reliability Professionals have expertise in process measurement as it relates to assessing current performance, trending and documenting improvement results.

Compensation Package: $67,200.00 - $89,600.00 . USD annually Bonus eligibility

What You’ll Be Doing.
- Aide in the development of alarms designed to determine and verify acceptable operations.
- Analyze plant wide failure data and downtime scenarios to calculate relevant trigger points for RCFA.
- Apply reliability analysis methods to new designs to determine system, asset and component reliability.
- Assist Maintenance Manager and Plant Engineer with reliability analysis of proposed equipment modifications.
- Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Catalogue and database the RCA/RCFA results and subsequent action items.
- Communicate to inform, engage and inspire. Emphasizes communications as a tool to build collaboration and ensure organizational alignment.
- Conduct employee appraisals and evaluations.
- Determine single-point failures.
- Develop housekeeping practices to obtain world-class standards.
- Develop machinery modification plans to deal with single-point failure scenarios.
- Develop commissioning procedures for new system, asset and component design.
- Develop specific maintenance and operational start-up procedures for new installations.
- Develop specific operational procedure changes to help mitigate future failures.
- Develop strategies for OEM warranty issues and claims.
- Direct and lead the maintenance of a record keeping system consistent with a world class reliability program.
- Direct and lead those maintaining and developing reliability KPI’s (% worker utilization, % schedule adherence, etc.) in conformance with McCain standards.
- Ensure adequate staffing and training of new employees.
- Ensure failure modes addressed are appropriate.
- Ensure that all failure modes have a job plan on file (both proactive and reactive).
- Follow the McCain safety, loss prevention and environmental programs by holding themselves and all team members accountable to its tenets.
- Help determine the QA/QC test points and procedures to maximize operational reliability.
- Implement McCain Competitive Edge and Lean Manufacturing practices relative to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP).
- Lead the Root Cause Failure Analysis effort for sporadic equipment failures.
- Maintain environmental compliance by ensuring all equipment is adequately maintained and operating to design specifications.
- Make specific recommendations to improve machinery performance and reliability based on analysis of process and failure data.
- Member of the designated management team for the PSM system, primary responsibilities to include, but not limited to, mechanical integrity,, safe work practices, development of PHA’s and SOP’s, and management of contractors in connection to the PSM system.
- Perform cost/benefit analysis to set correct frequency of task(s).
- Responsible for changes to the Equipment Maintenance Plan based on analysis of asset failure data.
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of Energy Recover System (ERS). Maintaining the health of the system and specifying and writing new projects that are beneficial to the Easton Plant.
- Responsible for responding to Factory Mutual concerns, recommendations and following up with corrective actions. This would include project writing and management over same.
- Responsible to develop new equipment purchase specifications for reliability and maintainability.
- Responsible to perform statistical analysis on machinery failure data and work order data to determine whether adjustments to the Engineered Maintenance Strategy are warranted.
- Schedule employee work schedules and vacations.
- Understand and utilize the continuum of maintenance philosophy as it relates to change management.
- Use reliability analysis tools to determine operational reliability of systems, assets and components.
- Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering or a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience in engineering and continuing self-development. GPA; 3.0 and above preferred.
- Three years in the reliability engineering field preferred.
- Class #2 State of Maine Stationary Steam Engineer License preferred.
- Certified vibration level 3 analyst ISO standards preferred.
- Certified lubrication specialist international council of machinery lubrication preferred.
