Job Title: Deli Department Manager
Reports to: Store Manager
Function: This position is responsible for creating an appealing presentation of the tremendous variety and selection of products that we offer. Our customers trust the safety of the products we sell. We must do everything to give them the right price and the right items when they want it.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage daily operations of department to meet store goals.
Provide direction and guidance to staff in their assigned job duties.
Follow and enforce store policies, security measures and customer service standards.
Provide excellent customer services for sales growth.
Develop positive shopping experience and ensure customer satisfaction.
Evaluate performance of each staff and provide appropriate feedback.
Perform inventory control to avoid over stock and low stock.
Manage product storage and rotation activities to reduce spoilages and damages.
Ensure that selling areas are maintained clean and organized.
Ensure that shelves are loaded with fresh products at all times.
Ensure that all products are properly tagged and labeled.
Assist in recruiting and training staffs on assigned responsibilities.
Assign daily workload and schedules to staffs.
Setup product displays according to merchandising standards.
Maintain the store clean, safe and appealing.
Develop process improvements to maximize sales and profitability.
Educate staffs about safety and sanitation procedures.
Other duties as assigned by manager
- Cut delicatessen meats and cheeses to customer’s preference
- Weigh, wrap, code and price deli products accurately
- Prepare party trays and arrange foods according to established guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of all products sold in the department
- Good mathematic skills to operate scales & computers and to coordinate dates for inventory rotation.
Physical Demands:
- Stand on feet, bend forward, stoop or walk for the majority of the time on duty
- Lift cases/containers of product up to 50 pounds
- Unload deliveries
- Work in cooler for short periods of time
- Maintain all departmental equipment.
- Maintain good housekeeping of work, display and storage areas.
- Observe all state health regulations and all safe food handling procedures
