Qualifications:
Education: A Youth Development Worker must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in the human services field is preferred but not required.
Experience: Preferred a minimum of one year experience working with adolescents in a childcare agency, child placement agency or educational setting, or relevant life experience such as parenting, or other experiences related to childcare.
Additional Requirements: Full-time Youth Development Worker must complete 50 hours of training during the first year of employment and twenty-five hours per year thereafter. They also must not possess a criminal history, a history of abuse/neglect, or a negative driving record.
Summary:
The Youth Development Worker is primarily responsible for providing attentive day-to-day supervision and therapeutic intervention for the Appletree Youth Program.
Essential Duties:
1. Attending and participating in Team meetings and trainings
2. Facilitating and supervising both one on one and group activities
3. Fulfilling all certifications and training requirements
4. Maintaining a safe environment and follow safety plans for youth
5. Able to follow and cook prescribed diets
6. Responsible for executing the Duty List provided, which includes, but is not limited to tasks such as all housekeeping for the house, shopping, and laundry
7. Implementing established plans for youth
8. Driving vans for youth pick up, drop off, and outings
9. Administering medications and logging them as appropriate
10. Communicating appropriately and effectively with colleagues, professionals, and referral sources
11. Maintain confidentiality of youth, co-workers and business of MQCSI
12. Completing all required paperwork in a timely manner, including: Communication Log, Shift Progress Notes & Medication Log, Van Log, and Incident Reports
13. Maintain professional standing in all relationships and in the community when representing the Appletree Therapeutic Youth Program.
14. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, and follow a two-person approved lifting technique, should be able to assist in lifting a 200 lb. person.
15. Tolerate hot working conditions
16. Knowledgeable of basic computer skills and use
17. Acting as appropriate role models in relationships with youth
18. Attending and satisfactorily completing all trainings
19. Avoid all forms of misconduct (i.e., theft, sexual harassment, forgery, abuse, gossiping, sleeping, excessive absenteeism, excessive tardiness, drugs, alcohol, job duties, criminal convictions, fighting, unauthorized visitors)
20. You may be required to staff after your regularly scheduled shift until relief can be found. You also may be mandated to work beyond your regular schedule.
