Role Description The Wall Panel Designer is a full-time, remote role responsible for preparing accurate wall panel layouts and construction drawings for residential projects. Day-to-day work includes interpreting architectural plans, translating designs into panelized wall systems, and using design or CAD software to create detailed shop drawings and material lists. This role collaborates closely with engineering, purchasing, construction, and field teams to ensure designs meet structural requirements, building codes, and production schedules. The Wall Panel Designer reviews and resolves design conflicts, updates drawings based on feedback or site conditions, and maintains organized documentation for all assigned projects. This position also supports process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and constructability of wall panel designs.
Qualifications
- Experience in residential design, structural layout, or construction drafting, with the ability to interpret architectural and structural plans.
- Proficiency with Mitek Structure or building design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or wall panel design platforms) and strong digital drawing skills.
- Solid understanding of framing methods, building materials, and residential construction practices, especially wall panelization.
- Strong analytical, math, and spatial reasoning skills to ensure accurate measurements, layouts, and material takeoffs.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and address design questions clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while being responsive and accountable to project timelines.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in drafting, architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Prior experience with production homebuilding, panelized construction, or truss/wall design is a strong plus.
