2026-27 Clerk, Counselor 201

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide clerical assistance and secretarial support to the counseling staff to enhance student learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Computer skills; ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions; skills in clerical organization and time management of clerical tasks

Experience:

One (1) year of experience in an office position, preferably in a school environment, preferred

Days: 201

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum: $14.70

Maximum: $20.52

Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform the clerical duties as related to registering and withdrawing students.

2. Assist in organizing campus activities assigned to the counselor.

3. Answer telephone and schedule conferences for counselors.

4. Perform general office duties, such as duplicating materials, requesting progress reports and filing.

5. Assist the counselors in explaining to students and parents the college and scholarship application process.

6. Coordinate college/technical school recruiter visits.

7. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.

8. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
