Role Description
As a Funeral Director at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of funeral and memorial services. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with families to arrange funeral and cremation services, embalming, preparing deceased individuals for viewing, and managing the logistics of ceremonies. You will also provide compassionate guidance and support to grieving families, ensuring their wishes are respected and fulfilled. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Charleston County, SC.
Qualifications
- Experience in embalming and preparation of the deceased for burial or cremation
- Knowledge of funeral home operations and services, including planning and execution of ceremonies
- Strong family service skills with a compassionate approach to counseling and supporting grieving families
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with families, staff, and service providers
- Exceptional customer service skills to provide professional and empathetic experiences during a sensitive time
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and manage funeral arrangements efficiently
- Valid licensure as a Funeral Director/Embalmer in the state of South Carolina or the ability to obtain licensure
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing funeral services
