Full-Time | $55,000–$65,000 per year bonus

McAlister’s Deli in Pueblo, Colorado is hiring an experienced Assistant Manager (AM) to help lead a high-volume, fast-casual restaurant. This Assistant Manager position is ideal for a restaurant leader with proven success in kitchen management, food cost (COGS) control, inventory management, and customer service leadership.

As the Assistant Manager, you will partner closely with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations, develop teams, control costs, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Assistant Manager Responsibilities

• Co-manage daily restaurant operations with the General Manager

• Lead front-of-house and back-of-house teams to deliver excellent customer service

• Provide hands-on kitchen leadership during peak and high-volume shifts

• Maintain strict standards for food safety, food quality, cleanliness, and speed

• Manage food cost (COGS) through accurate ordering, portion control, and waste reduction

• Oversee inventory management, weekly counts, and vendor ordering

• Coach, train, and develop hourly staff and shift leaders

• Support scheduling, labor management, and staffing plans

• Handle opening and closing duties, including cash handling and controls

• Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, and health regulations

Assistant Manager Qualifications

• 3 years of restaurant management experience (Assistant Manager, Assistant General Manager, or Kitchen Manager)

• Strong background in kitchen operations and food cost management

• Proven success controlling COGS, waste, and inventory

• Excellent customer service and guest-first leadership skills

• Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant

• Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills

• Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays

• Food safety certification (ServSafe preferred or willingness to obtain)
