What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician Lead position at McAlister Design?
· Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections.
· Operate and program CMMs and vision inspection systems (e.g., Micro-Vu, Zeiss) as required.
· Conduct Gage R&R, internal calibration, and support process capability (Cp, Cpk) studies.
· Participate in root-cause investigations and lead corrective actions aligned with Lean and 80/20 principles.
· Lead by example on off shift providing guidance to operators, promoting First Time Quality, and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Support production and engineering teams by providing feedback on print interpretation, GD&T application, and SPC data trends.
· Document and report non-conformances, ensuring containment and corrective action follow-up.
· Support training initiatives for second-shift team members on inspection techniques and quality standards.
· Ensure that the work is being completed in the order that it is required.
· Communicate work status with 1 st shift leadership.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
· 3 years of quality inspection experience in precision machining or a regulated industry (aerospace, medical, defense).
· Demonstrated ability to use precision inspection tools: micrometers, height gages, thread/pin gages, CMM, and vision systems.
· Familiarity with GD&T, SPC, and advanced measurement systems.
· Working knowledge of ISO 9001; exposure to AS9100 or ISO 13485 is a plus.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MES systems for data collection and reporting.
· Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings.
