About the Role:

The Medical Staff Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of medical staff activities within a hospital or healthcare setting. This position is responsible for managing physician relations, coordinating credentialing processes, and facilitating communication between medical staff and hospital administration. The coordinator ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and maintains accurate and confidential records related to medical staff. By effectively managing these processes, the role supports high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Medical Staff Coordinator acts as a vital liaison to uphold the standards and integrity of the healthcare organization’s medical staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting with knowledge of medical staff operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with physicians, staff, and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare management or medical staff office coordination.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the credentialing and privileging processes for physicians and allied health professionals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for physician relations, addressing inquiries and facilitating communication between medical staff and hospital departments.
  • Maintain and update confidential medical staff records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare management and administrative teams to support medical staff meetings, committees, and reporting requirements.
  • Utilize healthcare information technology systems to track staff credentials, schedule appointments, and transcribe necessary documentation accurately.

The Medical Staff Coordinator uses physician relations skills daily to build and maintain positive working relationships with medical professionals, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
