Title Payroll and Benefits Specialist Location Denver, CO (Hybrid role - 3 days per week remote Description The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for performing day-to-day payroll and benefit processes. We are looking for an individual that is comfortable with preparing, processing, and analyzing payroll data as well as the coordination and administration of employee benefits. This individual will handle standard payroll responsibilities, including payroll reporting as well as the administrating of company benefits

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the administration of semi-monthly payroll
  • Process employmentand payroll changes, and pay/deductions adjustments
  • Distribute all payroll related material to current and former employees
  • Interact with payroll tax service on payroll tax related matters, unemployment vendor, and state agencies to provide information
  • Payroll data entry and review of garnishments, tax levies and any other wage attachment information sent to 3rd party payroll vendors for accuracy prior to submission and after processing
  • Prepare and maintain files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentially (unemployment claims, I-9, W-4, COBRA etc.)
  • Process new hire paperwork and coordinate benefits enrollment
  • Assist in new employee orientation
  • Assist in calculations and administration of company supplemental compensation programs
  • Preparation of company payroll journal entries
  • Reconcile employee contributions and insurance provider invoices
  • Assist with open enrollment process and employee education/training sessions
  • Maintain Workers Compensation coding and files
  • Maintain employee census files and records
  • Maintain personnel files and HR records for compliance
  • Respond to employee questions and requests as it relates to payroll and benefits
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of multi-state payroll experience
  • 2 years of benefits administration experience
  • Technical proficiency in operating payroll software with strong, working knowledge of spreadsheets, Excel and Word
  • Practical knowledge of payroll processing, general payroll policy, government regulations and tax requirements
  • High degree of accuracy in working with numbers and detailed information
  • Knowledge of current employment and wage and labor laws
  • Experience with 3rd party payroll vendors and ability to create and run custom reports
  • Must have strong customer service and communication skills including written and verbal communications skills, as well as effective listening skills
  • Ability to professionally communicate with carriers and individual employees
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a sensitive, highly confidential and professional environment
  • Able to handle sensitive issues and confidential information requiring discretion
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Adaptability, initiative and willingness to participate in projects and back up other department employees when needed
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of payroll, payroll tax and human resource procedures and laws
  • Knowledge of appropriate laws, codes, standards and reporting requirements related to employee benefits and insurance programs
  • Experience with ADP Workforce payroll and benefits administration platforms
