Position Summary
We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer (PE) to lead projects, support clients, and provide technical oversight across a wide range of environmental and industrial systems.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you will:
- Work directly with clients to understand their needs
- Develop engineering solutions
- Lead design and documentation efforts
- Oversee projects from concept through implementation
- Stamp and approve engineering drawings for submittal
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to understand project needs, challenges, and regulatory requirements
- Develop and present engineering solutions and recommendations
- Lead design of systems including:
- Wastewater and stormwater treatment systems
- Industrial ventilation and air handling systems
- Pumping and process systems
- Prepare:
- Technical reports and engineering evaluations
- Work plans and scopes of work
- Cost estimates and proposals
- Construction drawings and specifications
- Oversee projects from field data collection and sampling through implementation
- Coordinate with field teams and support site work as needed
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and environmental regulations
- Stamp and sign engineering drawings and calculations for city/regulatory submittals
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to staff
Qualifications Required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Mechanical)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Strong experience in engineering design and project execution
- Experience working directly with clients
- Ability to prepare technical reports, plans, and design packages
Preferred
- Experience in environmental or industrial consulting
- Background in:
- Wastewater or stormwater systems
- Industrial ventilation or air quality systems
- Environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, soil vapor)
- Familiarity with permitting and regulatory processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments
Work Environment
- Combination of office, field, and client site work
- Occasional travel required

Compensation
- Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
