Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Manager

We're seeking a CMT Lab Manager for our next reservoir project near Ft. Lauderdale, FL. One of the landmark projects – one of the largest in Florida, if not the entire nation. Job Responsibilities & Requirements

• Manage and maintain the laboratory facility to ensure a safe, productive environment.
• Maintain and ensure all laboratory equipment is calibrated.
• Maintain satisfactory Lab Qualifications and audits through FDOT.
• Manage internal documentation and procedures and perform during the accreditation and certification process.
• Ensure that testing results are reported within specification-dictated timelines and communicated internally throughout the testing process.
• Plan, recruit, and provide recommendations for laboratory staff.
• Coordinate and facilitate proper training for lab and field personnel.
• Directly supervise and perform laboratory activities and testing procedures.
• Ensure that laboratory processes and personnel adhere to the requirements of the MC2 Quality Management Program and guidelines set forth by AASHTO and ASTM
• Work with the Department Managers to ensure proper lab resources are in place to meet project needs.
• Heavy lifting may be part of the day-to-day job (50 lb)
• Assist in updating SOP (standard operating procedures) and QMS (quality management systems).
• Assist in Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) duties.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (preferred)

Work Experience

• 15 years’ experience performing laboratory tests on construction and geotechnical materials working on FDOT projects is preferred; 5 experience required.
• Experienced testing soils, masonry, concrete, and asphalt.
• Ability to communicate and interact respectfully and professionally with verbal and written communication.
• FDOT MAC System experience (preferred).
• Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
