Job description
OVERVIEW: Manage existing electrical projects, relationships, and establish new relationships with potential buyers of electrical and specialty services (i.e. new construction, tenant finish/remodel, existing systems and facilities renovation/retro-fit, and commercial/industrial service needs). They will develop, estimate, and manage potential projects from conception through construction.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales and Business Development
- Actively pursues new and existing clients and creates long-term relationships for re-occurring revenue
- Creates and maintains strategic alliances with suppliers/vendors, architects/engineers
- Involved in networking organizations that are related to business or community development
- Develops prospecting and sales strategy, tracks performance, and focuses on promoting the Company’s business strategy
- Manage lead generation and recordkeeping
- Self-driven, entrepreneurial, and desire to create your own success
Electrical Estimating:
- Review plans and specs for completeness, identify scope discrepancies, and issue pre-bid RFI’s
- Review plans and specs to determine scope and suppliers/subcontractors
- Visit site, note: access, occupancy, utility info, photograph site, check scope with plans
- Contact Utilities, send plans, setup meeting if possible
- Fill out material sheets to be included in supplier bid packages
- Assemble plans, specs, alternates, and scope sheets into sets for suppliers/vendors, subcontractors
- Takeoff plans for quantities
- Coordinate with project management to provide conceptual estimating services, value engineering, analysis of alternatives and other support needs to make decisions
- Estimate projects using required software
- Check proposals for scope and quantity
- Qualify bids for scope items missing
- Determine final cost
- Provide list of drawings, addendums, specs, exclusions for proposal
- Prepare Proposal
Project Management
- Responsible for maintaining and keeping accurate job files (paper and electronic) including current drawings and specifications.
- Drafting subcontract agreements and purchase orders.
- Work with the project design professionals to help resolve outstanding design and engineering issues.
- Participate in the permit acquisition process to ensure timely issuance.
- Work with the site superintendent/foreman to create and maintain a project schedule. Assist the site superintendent/foreman to ensure that timelines are met while making appropriate schedule adjustments as necessary to incorporate changes.
- Work with the assigned superintendent/foreman to schedule and hold pre-construction and regular progress meetings as each project dictates.
- Review and follow-up on required submittals and shop drawings for assigned projects. This includes receiving, tracking, approving and documenting all data to ensure timely delivery of materials to the job site.
- Prepare necessary documentation for change orders on assigned projects. This includes performing quantity take-offs, soliciting subcontractor and supplier quotes and compiling data for presentation to owner and architect.
- Work with the site superintendent/foreman on the day to day management and administrative duties of assigned projects. This includes preparing necessary written documentation to all project team members.
- Prepare monthly progress billings.
- Lead the team in closing out projects quickly and efficiently.
Requirements:
- Sales/estimating/project management experience of at least five years (Required)
- Electrical experience of at least five years (Preferred)
- Understanding and experience with Design Build Electrical applications (Preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft suite - Word/Excel/PowerPoint (Required)
- Experience with estimating software (Required)
