This position plays a key part in ensuring the timely, accurate, and code-compliant delivery of multi-site retail projects from design development through construction. What You'll Do
- Partner with the Project Manager and help guide designers in producing and issuing accurate sets of construction documents as well as other required client deliverables.
- Coordinate with landlords, MEP, and Structural consultant teams to ensure complete and timely project delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and train junior Designers
- Research, review, and implement CBC & IBC codes
- Address plan check comments from local jurisdictions
- Issue construction documents for bid and permit
- Perform site surveys & punch walks
- Perform job site visits to review the progress of construction; prepare and issue field reports
- Participate in various aspects of construction administration; respond to RFIs, revise drawings based on RFIs, bulletins, and addenda, and review submittals
- Travel may be required
- Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- Experience with retail rollout or multi-site commercial projects.
- Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam; working knowledge of SketchUp and Photoshop is a plus.
- Strong understanding of building codes, especially IBC, CBC, and ADA, with the ability to apply them effectively to drawing sets.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience leading coordination efforts with clients, consultants, and team members.
- Multi-site retail projects, including site adaptation of prototypical designs.
- Delegating tasks to junior staff and conducting thorough QC reviews.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements in drawing production and team workflows.
- Working within a multi-office, cross-time-zone firm structure.
