What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Appliance Fabrication Consultant position at MB Machine?
We're developing a direct-to-consumer custom mouthguard product and need an experienced dental lab professional to train our founder and help establish our fabrication workflow. This is a part-time consulting engagement — flexible hours, remote-friendly with potential hands-on sessions.
What You'll Do
- Train me 1-on-1 on proper mouthguard fabrication from physical dental impressions/molds
- Help establish our end-to-end production workflow (mold receiving → finished appliance)
- Advise on materials selection (EVA thickness, layering, hardness for different use cases)
- Help troubleshoot fit, trimming, and finishing techniques
- Review and improve our QC process
- Document SOPs so the process is repeatable
Who You Are
- Certified Dental Technician (CDT) or equivalent hands-on dental lab experience
- Experience fabricating custom mouthguards, night guards, or sports guards
- Comfortable teaching and explaining your process
- Bonus: experience with a direct-to-consumer or mail-in lab model
Compensation
$150/hr, part-time, flexible schedule. Project-based milestones possible.
Pay: $145.00 - $175.00 per hour
