Yard Person

Position: Yard Associate
Location: CT

Mazzotta Rentals, Inc. (MRI) is seeking a Union Yard Associate to ensure our rental equipment is clean, organized, and ready for delivery or pick-up. This position supports the daily operations of the branch by maintaining the yard, assisting with equipment check-ins and check-outs, and helping prepare equipment for service or transport. You will work closely with drivers, mechanics, and management to help maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

• Clean, organize, and maintain the equipment yard to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Load and unload construction equipment from trucks and trailers using forklifts or other approved methods.
• Perform basic inspections and routine maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after customer use.
• Assist mechanics and service technicians with equipment setup or minor repairs.
• Pressure wash and clean equipment as needed to maintain professional standards.
• Tag and stage equipment for deliveries and rentals according to branch needs.
• Report any equipment damage or safety concerns to the Branch Manager or Service Department immediately.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are stored properly after use
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE.
• Participate in regular yard checks and fleet counts to maintain inventory accuracy.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience working in a construction yard, equipment rental, or similar outdoor labor setting is a plus.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment (training and certification provided if needed).
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Good communication skills, capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
• Knowledge of equipment and parts used in the construction industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of RentalMan software is a plus.

$30.00 - $43.16 hourly commensurate with experience and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
