What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Associate position at Mazzoni Center?
JOB SUMMARY: The Compliance Associate is primarily responsible for assisting the Compliance Director with maintaining compliance with all laws and regulations of the healthcare and other respective industries within the organization’s continuum of care, as well as professional and safety standards, best practices, and internal standards, while managing risk and ensuring compliance within Mazzoni Center.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform administrative functions for Compliance Department
- Organize and maintain all compliance related records and files
- Assist in preparing for and responding to routine reviews/audits
- Respond to correspondences, as directed
- Maintain compliance review files to include follow-up of all items required by regulators for audit purposes
- Performs routine compliance tasks concerning documentation and reporting
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and video conferences, as necessary
- Register and assign new employee compliance training for all new employees, interns, temps, consultants, and all others who perform services on or off-site for Mazzoni Center as appropriate and continuing compliance trainings for current employees
- Assist the Compliance Director with developing, coordinating, and conducting relevant compliance trainings for all agency staff members.
- Assist with on-boarding new hires to Compliance Program
- Coordinate logistics of compliance training programs
- Monitor for proper and complete documentation of all employee compliance certificates and trainings
- Assist the Compliance Director with administration of incident reports, including but not limited to uploading, debriefings and routine reviews. Work with Compliance Director to discuss/develop potential recommended amendments/changes/modifications to the incident reporting process to ensure appropriate protocols are effective and followed consistently across the organization.
- Assist the Compliance Director with performing and coordinating all investigations of deficiencies resulting from the reporting system or identified through the periodic assessments.
- Maintain compliance files, including uploading and organizing documents in a document management system
- Confidential projects, as assigned
- Conduct regularly scheduled 340B claims checks to ensure compliance with all 340B programs
- Conduct 340B activities as assigned to ensure compliance
- Attend and participate in grantee meetings and conferences, as necessary.
- Adhere to agency Confidentiality Policy and Pennsylvania Act 148 as well as other laws governing privacy/disclosure.
- Work with Compliance Director on formulating and/or modifying existing compliance policies, practices, or protocols across the organization as necessary to ensure their currency and consistency with best practices.
- Conduct research to support the work of the Compliance Department as directed.
- The Compliance Assistant will perform other related duties as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two to four years of work experience in compliance administration or similar field
- Ability to use good judgment and logic with attention to detail and organization skills
- Excellent organization skills, ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Strong PC Skills
- Experience with various computer programs, including Microsoft suite, Electronic Medical Records, specifically AthenaHealth (or similar EMR system) and Human Resource Trainings Systems, specifically HealthStream (or similar)
- Good team player, self-starter, highly motivated and eager to learn
- Must be culturally competent to work with groups from diverse racial, religious, ethnic, educational, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as members of the LGBTQ and gender non-conforming communities
- Must work well with multi-disciplinary team
Clearances
- Background checks are required, including Criminal Background Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance.
Physical Requirements[1]
- This position involves primarily sedentary work, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time and only occasional standing and/or walking.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of files and documents.
- The ability to communicate using written and spoken words.
- Must have all necessary vaccinations.
- Annual PPD.
