Sandwich Artist – Mazzeo’s Italian Market & Deli
At Mazzeo’s Italian Market & Deli, our Sandwich Artists are passionate about creating exceptional food while delivering genuine Italian hospitality. This role is responsible for preparing handcrafted sandwiches, grinders, and deli items using premium meats, cheeses, fresh produce, and house-made ingredients. Team members take pride in presentation, consistency, and providing every guest with a friendly, welcoming experience.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, grinders, and deli specialties according to Mazzeo’s recipes and quality standards.
- Slice meats and cheeses, portion ingredients, and maintain an organized, fully stocked sandwich station.
- Ensure every order is prepared accurately, efficiently, and presented beautifully.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests, answering menu questions, and making recommendations.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in accordance with health department regulations.
- Assist with prep work including vegetables, spreads, salads, and other deli items.
- Restock products and monitor inventory throughout each shift.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house team to provide a seamless guest experience.
- Help maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the deli, dining area, and workstations.
- Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous food service, deli, or sandwich preparation experience is preferred but not required—we’re happy to train motivated individuals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Friendly, dependable, and team-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, is preferred.
