Who We Are:
Mazi Adoption and Family Services strives to offer comprehensive, compassionate and supportive services to families and children navigating foster care and adoption. Our social workers focus on assisting families from the initial stages of their foster care and adoption process/journey, through supporting parents and children once they've reached permanency.
Our agency is a 501c-3 nonprofit organization. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we offer programs in connection with The Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) as well as preparing private home studies and post-placement/post-adoption reports for both domestic and international adoptions. We serve families adopting from any state or country program, and work with any applicant regardless of race, ethnicity or special considerations/needs.
Work experience requirements: At least one year professional experience, with work history in social work, child welfare or adoption services required. Previous experience working with Pennsylvania's Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) preferred.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in human services field preferred, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite, excellent writing skills, and professionalism are a must. Employee must possess the competency to multi-task with high attention to detail in a self-paced environment. Employee should also demonstrate excellent clinical and assessment skills, along with strong communication. Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and willingness to obtain State Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances and medical clearance to work with children and families required. Ability to carry individual liability insurance also required, as this is a 1099, contract position.
Position Summary:
The Adoption/Permanency Consultant will conduct SWAN Services and/or private pre-adoption home studies and post-adoption reports in compliance with all agency, State and Country’s adoption requirements. This position is remote, with travel requirements to Philadelphia and neighboring counties, based on services accepted by Consultant.
Staff Expectations:
- Follow service guidelines as outlined by Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Pennsylvania Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) and Agency expectations;
- Coordinate all services and resources to benefit children and families;
- Regularly utilize electronic platforms such as Microsoft 365/SharePoint, internal agency calendar, SWAN Portal, etc. as applicable to role within organization;
- Interact effectively and professionally with staff, clients, and team members: not to exclude colleagues and partners outside of Mazi Adoption and Family Services;
- Utilize effective time management;
- Maintain open lines of communication with Mazi Executive Director, Program Coordinators and Social-Work Level Leadership, and participate in scheduled, regular supervision with direct supervisory staff, and attend inter-agency meetings as required;
- Travel required;
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance to agency, State, and federal regulations, including documentation management and internal/external communications;
- Maintain an annual minimum of 10 hours of training
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide SWAN units of service as accepted/assigned, following agency’s guidance and the requirements outlined within each unit’s Benchmarks and Guidelines within the SWAN Portal;
- SWAN units of service are inclusive of Child Profiles, Family Profiles, Family Matching and Recruitment, Child Specific Recruitment, Child Preparation, Finalization, and Post Permanency;
- Direct casework with children and youth, foster families, adoptive families; and birth families;
- Provide post-placement and post-adoption supervision and reporting during the designated supervisory period, when applicable;
- Document maintenance, including but not limited to: preparation, scanning, printing of paperwork;
- Utilization of the SWAN Portal, including Cost/Time log maintenance, and benchmark utility to track progress of assigned caseload;
- Utilize effective time management to ensure all reports and documents are completed in a timely manner, according to due dates provided;
- Travel required.
Compensation is on a fee-for-service basis, which is a set rate for each service accepted. Further compensation details to follow upon inquiry and interview.
