As the Digital Media Intern, Patient Advocacy, you will support the Community Engagement team in advancing education, awareness, and patient focused communication related to APOL1 (AMKD) and CKD. You will help identify and develop ways to creatively engage with patients, caregivers, and community partners.

Maze Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company harnessing the power of human genetics to develop novel, small molecule precision medicines for patients living with renal, cardiovascular and related metabolic diseases, including obesity. The company is advancing a pipeline using its Compass platform, which allows it to identify and characterize genetic variants in disease and then link those variants to the biological pathways that drive disease in specific patient groups through a process it refers to as variant functionalization. The company’s pipeline is led by two wholly owned lead programs, MZE829 and MZE782, each of which represents a novel precision medicine-based approach for chronic kidney disease. Maze is based in South San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop impactful, engaging social media and digital content tailored to the APOL1 and CKD communities.
- Create the patient centric campaign, including messaging, visuals, and outreach strategy to effectively reach and resonate with diverse patient audiences.
- Support digital storytelling and awareness efforts highlighting patient voices and APOL1 education.
- Collaborate with cross functional partners to ensure all content aligns with compliance, brand, and patient centric standards.
- Track performance metrics and insights to refine content and outreach.
- Contribute to measuring the impact of community engagement activities.
- Current student or recent graduate (no earlier than Late May - Mid June 2026) from an accredited college/university pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred major or coursework in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Health, Journalism or related fields.
- Highly organized self-starter with strong project management and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and comfort working across teams.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, creativity, and willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital design tools.
- Ability to travel to San Francisco at least twice during the internship
- Role that may require weekly in person meetings in the Atlanta Metro Area, some evening and weekend availability.
- Hands-on experience shaping patient centered advocacy digital strategies.
- Experience creating meaningful content to support awareness and education efforts.
- Exposure to community engagement activities that influence patient empowerment and health journeys.
- Opportunities to collaborate cross functionally and develop professional skills in a real-world environment.
