Position Summary:
Quality Control Technician performs inspections to ensure the machining process quality and conformance to show drawings. Working with the team to ensure accuracy of outsourced components, this team member must be familiar with various machining processes
Job Duties:
- Inspect outsourced components to ensure accuracy of work and conformance of shop drawings.
- Utilize various types of metrology equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauge, thread gauges, hardness tester, and laser alignment system
- Ensure raw materials used in machining processes are in conformance with shop drawings
- Designate acceptance or rejection of machined and outsources components
- Interface with area supervisors, machinists, welders to coordinate required repairs and/or replacements as necessary
- Perform visual inspection of shop weldments verifying weldments are in accordance with shop drawings and applicable AWS standards - - - Oversee ultrasonic shear wave testing (UT), liquid dye penetration (PT), and magnetic particle testing (MT) performed by others
- Test and measure finished products, components, or assemblies for assembly, function and operation to verify adherence to specified performance
- Oversee the third-party calibration of measurement devices
- Document inspection activities/results and prepare inspection reports
- Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner; follow all Safety Guidelines
