The Quality Engineer designs tests and specifies inspection and testing methods to be executed and documented by others in a lab or production environment. Testing may be applied to raw materials, in-process materials or components, and final products. Work may include analysis of product failure to identify causes and possible remediation.
- Perform FAI's, PPAP, and First Piece Inspection to ensure that all products meet the established specifications for workmanship and adherence to print specifications.
- Utilize gauges, templates and other manufacturing aids to ensure that all products meet the print specifications.
- Initiate and complete corrective action requests (CARs).
- Plan inspection procedures to ensure that all products conform to customer specifications.
- May include auditing and qualifying vendors on location.
Works under minimal supervision and responsible for defining technical approaches to projects.
Education and Experience:
- Quality Engineer: 2 years, preferably in the metal manufacturing environment.
- Degree or equivalent experience: Engineering degree or related work experience.
- Experience with sheet metal manufacturing is a plus.
