Somerset Auto Repair is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Shop Janitor / Facility Assistant to help keep our facility clean, organized, and professional for both our team and our customers.

This role is important to our daily operations. You will help maintain customer areas, office spaces, restrooms, shop floors, and equipment so that our shop stays safe, clean, and welcoming.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, notices what needs to be cleaned or restocked, and takes pride in keeping things spotless without needing constant direction.

What You'll Do

• Clean and maintain customer lobby, offices, restrooms, and shop areas
• Perform heavy-duty cleaning of facilities, building areas, and mechanical equipment — this is not optional and is a required part of the role
• Vacuum and mop lobby and shop floors multiple times per day
• Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, mirrors, and restroom fixtures
• Empty trash and dispose of shop waste regularly
• Restock supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, coffee supplies, and trash bags
• Wipe down furniture, counters, and common surfaces throughout the day
• Help keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
• Assist with general facility upkeep as needed
• Courier parts and supplies using your own personal vehicle
• Run errands using your own personal vehicle (dropping off mail, picking up parts, etc.)
• May be required to shuttle customers to and from home or work

Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must have reliable personal transportation
• Must have valid vehicle insurance
• Must have a clean driving record
• Must have janitorial cleaning or maintenance experience
• Must be able to pass a full background check (including criminal, sexual, and driving record)
• Strong attention to detail
• Dependable and punctual
• Able to work independently and stay productive
