Responsibilities
- Review and assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes to all services provided
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of insurance claims to payers
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and appeals
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve coding and billing discrepancies
- Process and post payments from insurance companies and patients
- Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Stay current with changes in coding and billing regulations and guidelines
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification in medical billing and coding from an accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and third-party payer regulations
- Proficient in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus
