Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our facilities and mechanical systems teams in a vibrant setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across our facilities. As an Engineering Manager, you will drive safety, efficiency, and innovation while ensuring that all operations comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining optimal facility performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role ensures that the property is maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and guest satisfaction, while managing a team of engineers and maintenance staff.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and manage the engineering and maintenance team.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks to ensure efficient operation of the department.
- Conduct training and performance evaluations for staff members.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and repair programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
- Ensure all guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and amenities are well-maintained.
- Coordinate with housekeeping and other departments to address maintenance concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs.
- Track and control expenditures to ensure cost efficiency.
- Source and manage vendor contracts and negotiate cost-effective solutions.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies and coordinate corrective actions promptly.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for engineering-related incidents.
- Assist in planning and executing capital improvement projects.
- Liaise with contractors, architects, and vendors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget..
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering or maintenance experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in varying environmental conditions.
