Mechanical Design Engineer – Design for Manufacturing & Certification
MayMaan Energy Solutions | Hollywood, Florida | Full-time, On-site
Salary: $80,000 – $110,000 per year, depending on experience
About MayMaan
MayMaan Energy Solutions is a clean energy technology company developing the AquaStroke® water-ethanol combustion platform, which delivers low-emission power generation for standby, prime power, and data center applications. Our patented technology is protected in more than 20 countries. Our AS-35 generator is CE certified and deployed in the field, and larger platforms up to 400 kW are in development. We are growing our engineering team as we scale from prototypes to volume manufacturing in the US and Europe.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer who can take products from concept through production-ready design. You will own SolidWorks models and drawings, manage product data in OpenBOM, build complete product files, and support products through testing and certification. You’ll work closely with our engineering team, suppliers in the US and Asia, and certification bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures in SolidWorks, with a strong focus on design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA).
- Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using GD&T, tolerance stack-ups and appropriate material and finish specifications.
- Create and maintain the full product file, including BOMs, drawings, specifications, revision history, and technical documentation.
- Manage parts, BOMs, revisions, and engineering change orders (ECO/ECN) in OpenBOM so that product data stays accurate across the lifecycle.
- Build RFQ packages and work with suppliers and contract manufacturers on design reviews, first article inspections, and manufacturability issues.
- Plan and support product testing, such as environmental, IP ingress (IEC 60529), vibration, thermal and load testing.
- Prepare technical files and coordinate with test labs and notified bodies for certifications such as CE, UL/CSA and EPA as applicable.
- Support prototype builds, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement as products move to volume production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical product design, ideally for industrial equipment, generators, engines, or power systems.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, including parts, assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, and drawings.
- Hands-on experience with a PLM/PDM system. OpenBOM is preferred; experience with SolidWorks PDM, Arena, Onshape, or similar is also welcome.
- Proven track record of designing parts for sheet metal fabrication, machining, casting, and/or injection molding.
- Experience supporting products through certification and compliance testing (CE, UL, CSA or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering documentation standards.
- Clear communicator who is comfortable working with vendors, test labs, and cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- CSWA or CSWP (SolidWorks certification).
- Experience with generator sets, internal combustion engines, enclosures/canopies, or electrical power equipment.
- Familiarity with EU machinery and low-voltage directives and with EPA emissions certification.
- FEA or thermal simulation experience (SolidWorks Simulation or similar).
- Experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
What We Offer
- $80,000 – $110,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus options.
- Health.
- The chance to shape a breakthrough clean-energy product as it moves into mass production.
