Accounting Manager
Mayfly Outdoors | Montrose, Colorado | Full-Time | $70,000–$80,000 based on experience
Where Precision Meets Passion
Mayfly Outdoors is the steward of some of the most iconic brands in fly fishing, including Ross Reels, Abel Reels, Airflo, Airlite, Renzetti, Dyna-King, and C-Tech Fly Fishing Gear. We are trusted by anglers around the world for craftsmanship that honors the water. We are currently hiring for an Accounting Manager who shares that same standard of excellence to help lead the financial backbone of our growing, multi-site operation.
The Role
As our Accounting Manager, you'll lead the accounting function for our US operations, overseeing financial activity. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, you'll bring strong GAAP fundamentals, hands-on Syteline ERP expertise, and proven leadership to drive accuracy, efficiency, and financial integrity across the business.
What You'll Do
• Manage daily operations of the US accounting department — accounts receivable, payables, general ledger, and month-end/year-end close in compliance with GAAP — across both sites
• Prepare and review financial statements, reports (excise taxes, commission calculations, royalty tracking), and reconciliations to ensure accuracy
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting staff, providing guidance, feedback, and professional growth opportunities
• Lead the accounts’ receivable function, ensuring timely invoicing, cash collection, and aging report review
• Coordinate with third-party auditors to support annual tax return preparation, providing documentation, schedules, and reconciliations
• Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures that safeguard company assets
• Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, purchasing, and senior leadership to support business goals
• Manage data integrity within our Syteline ERP system
• Provide regular accounting updates that support strategic decision-making
• Other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of general accounting experience
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience with direct reports
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Syteline ERP
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to effectively support multi-site operations
Nice to Have
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with month-end processes, cost accounting, and inventory management
How We Work
Every role at Mayfly Outdoors is guided by the same five principles on the water and on the job:
Fish Together (Collaboration. Teamwork. Adaption.) You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with sales, operations, and leadership across two sites — adapting as priorities shift and always rowing in the same direction.
Presentation (Quality. Pride. Integrity.) From your reconciliations to your reporting, the numbers you produce reflect the same precision we put into every reel and rod.
Hatch the Match (Innovate. Take Risks. Get It Done.) We want an Accounting Manager who improves the process, not just maintains it — who isn't afraid to find a better way.
Wade Upstream (Improvement. Growth. Development.) We invest in your growth as much as our own — mentoring your team is part of the job, and so is your own development.
Be the Guide (Customer Experience. Reputation. Expertise.) Sound financial leadership protects the reputation anglers around the world have trusted for over a decade.
