POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations and Certified Dietary Manager, the Dietitian provides consultation to the facility for the purpose of providing nutrition care which will result in optimal health of the patients and residents. Responsible for nutritionally assessing patients and monitoring their nutritional care as well as for care and proper use of materials and equipment for provision of food service in the institution. Work with the Certified Dietary Manager to meet the nutritional needs of the organization and the Food and Nutrition Services Department

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma preferred or equivalency exam.
- Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
- Completed a CADE-accredited supervised practice program.
- Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Previous long term care and/or hospital /food service experience preferred.

Specific Competencies:
- Performs nutritional assessments, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring, and evaluating of patients and residents per hospital policy for acute care and skilled nursing care.
- Advises and counsels Food and Nutrition Services Manager in all areas of food service and nutritional care.
- Reports to the Director of Operations and/or Food and Nutrition Services Manager monthly or as needed regarding findings and concerns regarding the Food and Nutrition department and the nutritional care of residents. Submits reports on hours worked, charting completed, problems addressed, survey concerns and recommendations for quality care.
- Coordinates, implements, and evaluates the facility menus for nutritional adequacy.
- Reviews and assists the Food and Nutrition Services Manager in interdisciplinary care planning and department care plans.
- Visits residents and patients to monitor food acceptance.
- Works with the Administrator or designee Nursing, Physicians and other department heads on planning, resident care issues, and Comprehensive QAPI/reporting.
- Revises and makes recommendations as needed for the Department of Food and Nutrition Services Policy and Procedure Manual and Diet Manual.
- Supports annual survey, licensure and accreditation audits and ensures compliance of county, state, and federal standards.
- Participates in continuing education to maintain registration as a Registered Dietitian.
- Work Monday – Friday 40 hours per week and provide on call time for Saturday, Sunday and after hour emergencies.
- Assessment of patient's/residents nutritional risks/status and physician orders
- Evaluates and monitors the Food and Nutrition Services Department to assure that the department is providing adequate, acceptable quality food.
- Participate in inter-disciplinary team, skin and weights and other meetings, as necessary.
- Charts in company provided EMR, Point Click Care and Cerner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary.

- Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients and support agencies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Works in a fast-paced environment.
- Pushes meal carts to and from patient care units.
- Ability to sit, stand, and work on your feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Lifts up to 35 pounds when necessary.
- Works in warm temperatures during the summer months.
- Works in walk-in freezer for short periods of time
