Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specialising in the Operating Room to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout their surgical journey. Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery by explaining procedures, ensuring informed consent, and assessing their physical and emotional readiness.
- Assist in the sterilisation and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition during surgery, responding promptly to any changes or emergencies.
- Support the surgical team by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Document patient information accurately in medical records, including intraoperative observations and interventions.
- Follow strict health and safety standards, including infection control procedures, to minimise risks within the operating theatre.
- Provide postoperative care instructions to patients and their families, ensuring a smooth recovery process.
Skills
- Proven experience in patient care within an operating theatre setting or similar clinical environment.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy relevant to surgical procedures and patient positioning.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient support.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to emergency situations during surgery.
- Organised with meticulous attention to detail for documentation and equipment management.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and confidentiality in accordance with healthcare regulations.
