Job Summary
May Jordan Logistics Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Ocean Import Operations Specialist to manage daily ocean import shipments, ensure smooth cargo movement, and provide excellent service to clients and overseas partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in international freight forwarding, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery
- Monitor shipment status and communicate updates to customers, agents, truckers, and carriers
- Prepare and review import documentation including bills of lading, arrival notices, delivery orders, and customs-related paperwork
- Work closely with customs brokers, warehouses, steamship lines, and trucking companies
- Ensure timely cargo release and delivery while minimizing delays and storage costs
- Handle billing, invoicing, and shipment file closure accurately
- Resolve shipment issues proactively, including delays, holds, and documentation discrepancies
- Maintain strong relationships with overseas agents and clients
- Ensure compliance with import regulations and internal procedures
Qualifications
- 3 years of ocean import operations experience preferred
- Freight forwarding or logistics industry experience required
- Strong knowledge of ocean import documentation and shipment flow
- Familiarity with steamship lines, customs clearance process, and inland delivery coordination
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Experience handling FCL and LCL shipments
- Knowledge of U.S. import procedures
- Customer service mindset with strong problem-solving ability
