The Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Medical and Dental Billing Specialist to join our team on-site in Wilmington. This is a hands-on, full-time position for a billing professional who takes pride in clean submissions, works denials aggressively, and keeps the revenue cycle moving with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit, scrub, and follow up on medical and dental claims across commercial insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare
- Manage the full billing cycle from charge entry through final payment and reconciliation
- Post payments and adjustments; work denials and appeals through to resolution
- Monitor and manage weekly aging reports to keep outstanding balances at a minimum
- Verify patient insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations as needed
- Communicate with patients regarding account balances and payment arrangements
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready coding using CDT, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10
- Ensure full compliance with HIPAA regulations at all times
- Collaborate with front office and clinical staff to ensure charges are captured and processed on time
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of direct, hands-on medical and dental billing experience (this requirement is non-negotiable)
- Proficiency in CDT, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
- Experience with a major practice management or EHR system (eClinicalWorks strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid billing, including Delaware Medicaid MCOs
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA and how to protect patient information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience billing with Delaware Medicaid plans such as Highmark Health Options or AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware
- Familiarity with credentialing processes and CAQH profile maintenance
- Experience with practice management platforms such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental
- Background in a multi-specialty or fast-growing practice environment
