What are the responsibilities and job description for the WELDER- Fit up (MIG) Day shift position at Maxwell Industries, LLC?
MUST KNOW HOW TO WELD MANUALLY - This is not a robot welding position. Please do not apply if you do not have MIG Welding experience or if you are not located in the area (Monroe, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Bradley, Rhea or Loudon counties).
The ideal applicant for the Fitter/Fabricator position will have MIG welding experience; be able to read blueprints (schematics); and have the ability to proficiently measure angles. The fitter will follow customer designed blueprints to tack the shell of the tank together. The ideal applicant must be able to set the welder to the correct setting.
A weld test may be required as part of the interview process. The regular work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Overtime, including weekends may be mandatory to meet customer demands. Currently working 40 hours, but may change at any time.
Weld quality is extremely important to the structure of hydraulic oil reservoirs and fuel tanks. We are American Welding Society D1.3 and D1.1 Certified in MIG and TIG welding. Maxwell Industries has a rigorous process to ensure cleanliness on each of our tanks under ISO standard 18-16-13. All tanks that we manufacture are 100% leak tested and validated to ensure the integrity of the tank.

Status: Full Time; Non-exempt
Summary: Fitting, joining, and fabricating metal and other welded materials by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform welding duties using a wire welder (GMAW).
· Weld metal (aluminum, steel, stainless steel) components as specified by customer’s engineered blueprints.
· Turns knobs to select amperage.
· Read blueprints
· Turns lever to adjust jet of gas to blow away molten metal.
· Strikes arc and guides electrode along lines to cut (melt) through metal.
· Grinds off chips, spurs, and slag from cracks and holes.
· Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
· Communicates with Quality and other management as needed.
· Refer to and follow work instructions.
· Attend production meetings and follow production schedule.
· Other duties may be assigned.

Education: Prefer high school diploma or equivalent.
Language: Ability to read, write, and comprehend work instructions and other applicable correspondence.
Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Physical Demands: Regular use of hands to touch, hold, or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms (including overhead); stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Meet the standards of the company physical. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery.
