Location: Salt Lake City, UTReports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Job Summary:The Vice President of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeingand optimizing the performance of our USPS transportation business unit. Thisindividual will be tasked with managing all aspects of the operation, ensuring safety,compliance, on-time performance, and overall profitability. The VP of Operations willbuild and maintain strong relationships with USPS partners and oversee contractbidding and schedule negotiations. The role requires a strategic leader who can driveoperational excellence while managing day-to-day execution.Key Responsibilities:Operational Management: Oversee daily operations of USPS-related transportation services, ensuring thetimely and efficient pickup of mail from distribution centers and delivery to postoffices. Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance performance,efficiency, and safety. Ensure that operations meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) relatedto on-time delivery, driver efficiency, and compliance.Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations andcompany policies. Champion safety initiatives and ensure that all safety protocols are strictlyadhered to across the business unit.PL Management: Manage the profit and loss (PL) for the business unit, driving profitabilitythrough operational improvements and strategic cost management. Monitor financial performance, forecast budgets, and develop strategies toachieve financial goals.Contract Management and Bidding: Build and maintain strong relationships with USPS representatives, acting as theprimary point of contact for contract negotiations and schedule adjustments. Lead the bidding process for new contracts and schedule changes, ensuringcompetitive and profitable bids are submitted.Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of Driver Managers, ensuring they have the tools andresources needed to manage their drivers effectively. Foster a positive work environment that encourages professional growth andoperational excellence.Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement andimplement corrective actions. Develop and track performance metrics related to safety, on-time delivery, andefficiency to ensure consistent achievement of business goals.Key Metrics for Success: Safety performance (incident rates, compliance with safety protocols) Profit and Loss (PL) performance On-time delivery rates Driver efficiency and performanceQualifications: Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role within the trucking,transportation, or logistics industry, preferably with USPS or governmentcontracts. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety protocols. Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale operations with a focus onsafety, efficiency, and profitability. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading directreports such as Driver Managers. Strong financial acumen with experience in PL management, budgeting, andforecasting. Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to negotiate and managecontracts effectively.
