Software Engineering Director

Responsibilities

MaxLinear is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join our team. In this role, you will focus on the following:

• Direct software development projects of varying sizes through technical leaders
• Participate in the entire lifecycle of a product from concept through obsolescence
• Work collaboratively with international software teams to drive development efforts, effectively utilizing cross-site resources
• Work with Program Management to schedule key milestones, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of project resources
• Ensure products are completed on time and according to product specifications, schedules, and quality standards
• Facilitate the definition of SW development processes for developing superior software, and constantly strives and puts processes in place to improve quality
• Hire, train, and conduct employee performance appraisals
• Motivate, discipline, and groom team, providing a constructive environment for improvement of personal traits and technical skills
• Keep team informed on the company’s direction and roadmap
• Facilitate communication upward and across engineering teams including product status, justifications for variances and technical information, acceptance and rejection of feature changes, serving as the point of contact for all software activities
• Ensure that software architecture and implementation is maintainable and extendible to accommodate future development and maintenance
• Ensure that appropriate development and corporate methods and procedures are followed

Qualifications

• Experience in software/firmware development preferably in the embedded product space (wireless, wire-line communication products) with knowledge of SW from OS/RTOS to applications
• Full product life cycle experience of several products
• Hands-on and proficient in C/C /C#, assembly coding, proficient with CPU architectures, Linux OS, Windows OS, and experienced in writing efficient code
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present
• Experience working with multicultural teams
• BS in Electrical Engineering or related  15 years of experience, or MS  12 years of experience, or Ph.D.  10 years of experience
