Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced OSI / AVEVA PI Software Engineer (Developer) to support and enhance PI‑based Production, Operations, Energy Balance, and Advanced Analytics applications. This role is focused on PI development and integration, not system administration.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing solutions using the AVEVA PI suite, working with historian data, and integrating PI with enterprise systems in a production or operations environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, debug, maintain, and upgrade AVEVA PI solutions
- Design and build applications using PI Data Archive, PI AF, PI Vision, PI Web API, PI OLEDB, and PI Integrator for Business Analytics
- Develop PI Asset Framework models, analyses, event frames, notifications, and custom data references
- Support and enhance Energy / Production Balance applications
- Support development of Advanced Analytics solutions leveraging time-series data
- Integrate PI data with other enterprise systems (ETRM, Commercial Operations, O&M)
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle including feasibility, requirements, design, development, testing, and production support
- Work directly with business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Lead or support whiteboarding sessions, workshops, and PI training sessions
- Provide subject matter expertise on PI, historian data, and analytics
- Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and provide off-hours support as required
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5 years of hands-on experience as an OSI / AVEVA PI Developer
- Strong experience with:
- PI Data Archive
- PI Asset Framework (AF)
- PI Vision
- PI Web API
- PI SDK / AF SDK
- PI OLEDB
- PI Integrator for Business Analytics
- Experience with PI interface configuration and AF-based analysis development
- Strong development skills using:
- SQL (Oracle and MS SQL Server)
- JavaScript
- C#
- PowerShell
- HTML, CSS, XML
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as:
- PI reporting tools
- Power BI
- SSRS
- Tableau
- Experience integrating PI with external systems and APIs
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Oil & Gas or Energy industry
- Exposure to:
- AngularJS, Node.js, React
- Python and Machine Learning concepts
- Experience with energy trading, production operations, or advanced analytics platforms
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics, or a related field
Additional Notes:
- This is a developer role only (NOT PI Administrator)
- Position requires 100% onsite work in Houston, TX
- No remote or hybrid work options
