What are the responsibilities and job description for the Print Production Planner position at Max Solutions Canada?
We are hiring a Print Production Planner at our Sturgis location.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production plans and schedules for manufacturing, considering factors such as customer orders, production capacity, and material availability
- Create and maintain a production schedule that maximizes efficiency and meets delivery timelines
- Analyze customer demand patterns, sales forecasts, and historical data to anticipate future folding carton requirements
- Work closely with procurement to ensure an adequate supply of raw materials, such as paperboard, inks, adhesives, and coatings
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely material replenishment to avoid production delays
- Allocate production resources based on production requirements and capacity constraints
- Optimize resource utilization to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency
- Monitor the progress of the production line, identify potential bottlenecks or issues, and take proactive measures to minimize disruptions
- Provide daily updated production schedules the delivery all customer orders on time, maintain desired inventory levels, and seek to maximize operational efficiency
- Collaborate with production, sales, and procurement teams for requirements, constraints and feedback to actual results
- Analyze production capacity and optimize resource utilization to meet production targets efficiently
- Create contingency plans & address production disruptions & challenges including unplanned downtime, labor adjustments, customer demand changes or material shortages
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including: planned vs. actual results, inventory turns, on-time delivery, resource utilization, and adjustments based on OEE
- Continuously improve scheduling and planning processes and tools
- Actively participate in routine production meetings to review priorities, progress and issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrate a deliberate focus on Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Satisfaction
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Previous experience in production planning, preferably in the packaging or printing industry, with a focus on folding cartons or labels
- Strong understanding of production processes, supply chain management, and inventory control principles
- Proficient in using production planning software and tools. Experience with ERP systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction
