Duties
- Assist customers with selecting pet products, including food, toys, accessories, and health supplies, providing detailed product demos when needed
- Operate the cash register (POS system), handle retail sales transactions accurately, and manage cash drawer handling with integrity
- Stock shelves and organize merchandise to ensure an attractive and accessible store layout that promotes sales and product visibility
- Conduct upselling by recommending complementary products and promoting special offers to enhance customer satisfaction and store revenue
- Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or providing information about store services and products
- Perform merchandising tasks to keep the store visually appealing and aligned with brand standards
- Support inventory management by stocking new shipments, conducting stock counts, and assisting with inventory audits
Requirements
- Previous retail sales experience preferred, especially in grocery or pet stores, with a strong understanding of retail math and cash handling procedures
- Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse customer needs effectively
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership skills in a retail environment is desirable
- Excellent communication skills to engage customers confidently and provide clear product explanations
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and inventory counts
- Knowledge of pet store products or experience with animal-related merchandise is highly valued
- Strong phone etiquette skills for professional customer interactions over the phone or in person
