Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for supporting the laboratory operations through various tasks such as accessioning specimens, managing equipment and reagents, and maintaining the organization of slides and blocks. This role includes performing quality checks, cleaning the laboratory area, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols. The Laboratory Assistant also communicates any irregularities and assists with additional tasks as needed.
Essential Functions:

- Accessioning duties such as: specimen entry, quality checks, transferring and tracking blocks.
- Equipment/reagent management.
- Slide distribution.
- Slide/block filing.
- Cleans laboratory area.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Communicates irregularities and errors to Pathologist Assistant, Transcriptionists, Supervisor, Pathologists, and Histology department as indicated.
- Discards appropriate specimens on a weekly basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
