Inventory Optimization Analyst
Put your career into high gear with Mavis Discount Tire! We're looking for a full time Inventory Optimization Analyst to join Team Mavis at our Headquarters in White Plains, New York. With over 3,000 retail locations, Mavis is the largest tire sales and automotive repair chain in the United States.
The Inventory Optimization Analyst acts as the gatekeeper of Mavis’ inventory health across our extensive retail store and Distribution Center (DC) network. They identify excess stock, execute profitable end-of-life markdown strategies, and orchestrate inter-DC transfers to balance our inventory, keep our stores stocked, and keep transportation costs low.
Responsibilities
The Inventory Optimization Analyst is responsible for the following:
- Excess & Aged Inventory Management: Continuously analyze inventory levels across all stores and DCs to identify over-stocked, slow-moving, and obsolete merchandise.
- Lifecycle & Markdown Strategy: Develop, execute, and monitor end-of-life (EOL) markdown strategies to efficiently exit old or discontinued inventory while protecting margin where possible.
- Network Balancing & Transfers: Initiate and manage stock transfers between DCs to optimize product placement, improve regional in-stock rates, and minimize overall transportation costs.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Build and maintain inventory health dashboards. Provide actionable insights and regular KPIs (e.g., inventory turnover, GMROI, transfer costs, liquidation rates) to leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Procurement and Distribution teams to align inventory strategies with network capacities and demand shifts.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the position of Inventory Optimization Analyst, an individual must have:
- 2 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain analytics, demand
planning, or allocation (Retail or Automotive industry experience is a major plus)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, advanced
formulas) and experience with BI tools (like Tableau, Power BI) or SQL is highly preferred.
- Some experience using AI tools such as Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT for problem solving.
- A proven track record of looking at massive datasets, finding the “signal in the
noise,” and turning that data into profitable action.
- Ability to translate complex inventory data into clear, actionable recommendations
for cross-functional teams and leadership.
