Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our small, fast-paced team. This is a hands-on role in laboratory science, supporting the development and advancement of diagnostic technologies. This will be a TEMP to HIRE role. First 3 months will be contract and FTE hire based on performance.
You will play a key role in generating high-quality experimental data, building high-quality clinical processes, and ensuring rigor and reproducibility across workflows. We are a small company with a start-up culture, and this position requires a high degree of ownership, professionalism, and reliability, with the ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with a small team.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Execution
- Execute laboratory experiments to support diagnostic assay development and validation
- Perform sample preparation, assay execution, and data generation with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
- Maintain detailed and compliant experimental records, including protocols and results
- Support development, optimization, and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Manage lab organization, inventory, and equipment maintenance
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and continuously improve workflows for efficiency and reproducibility
Diagnostics Development & Quality Focus
- Contribute to assay development, optimization, and verification/validation activities
- Ensure work is performed with attention to accuracy, traceability, and reproducibility, consistent with diagnostic development standards
- Support documentation and processes aligned with regulated or quality-focused environments (e.g., design controls, verification/validation, or similar frameworks)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with team members on experimental design, data interpretation, and project execution
- Communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to planning and prioritization in a dynamic, evolving environment
Operational Ownership
- Take initiative in identifying gaps, improving processes, and driving work forward independently
- Manage multiple priorities with a high level of accountability and follow-through
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail in all work
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, sample prep, assay workflows, or similar)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a small, fast-paced team environment
Preferred
- 1-2 years industry experience
- Experience in diagnostics, assay development, or clinical/regulated environments
- Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS)
- Experience supporting verification and validation (V&V) activities
- Exposure to quality systems (e.g., design controls, ISO 13485, CLIA/CAP, or similar)
