Salary Range: $90,000-$140,000 per year

Maverick Space Systems, Inc. is a small but growing aerospace company which provides various products and services to the small satellite industry, including but not limited to: CubeSat and ESPA Class satellite launch adapter hardware, Launch Integration Services/Mission Management, and low-cost hardware and test solutions for small satellites and their subsystems.

Job Summary

Maverick Space Systems is seeking a self-motivated full time Structural Analyst to join our growing team in San Luis Obispo, CA. A successful candidate will have at least 1-5 years of industry experience, will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and will have proficiency in finite element analysis and mechanical design.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Finite element analysis of components and assemblies
• Structural analysis and requirements checking, including rough structural sizing, hand calculations, FEA, and FEA-assisted hand calculations
• FEMAP/NASTRAN Experience Preferred. Prior experience with a similar tool such as Abaqus or ANSYS may be acceptable.
• Perform concept trade studies for both metallic and composite material analysis
• Perform mechanical and structural design tasks relating to satellite deployment systems and test hardware
• Generate mechanical drawings as required for manufacturing
• Support environmental testing, primarily random vibration, sine vibration, sine burst and shock testing

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A minimum of 1-5 years experience in structural analysis, or a Master’s Degree with concentration or thesis in structures and/or FEA
• Finite Element Analysis Experience required
• Experience presenting analysis and results to technical groups and customers
• Experience interfacing with co-workers on a daily basis
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Self-motivated, organized, humble, and willing to learn
• Willing to relocate to San Luis Obispo, CA
• US Citizenship

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency with Python and/or Matlab
• Experience interfacing with customers
• Loads and Dynamics experience
• Optimization experience
