Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server)
MUST be local to Phoenix, AZ OR Marietta, GA
Maverick Search Partners is recruiting a Database Administrator on behalf of a national engineering and technical services firm. This is a direct-hire, full-time position supporting enterprise, mission-critical database environments.
What you'll do
- Administer and optimize large SQL Server environments supporting high-volume production workloads
- Own high availability — AlwaysOn Availability Groups, failover clustering, replication, log shipping
- Build and test disaster recovery: backup strategy, restore validation, RTO/RPO targets
- Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, patching, upgrades, and migrations
- Implement enterprise security standards — encryption, auditing, role-based access control
- Support DFARS, ITAR, and similar compliance requirements
- Maintain runbooks and technical documentation
- Participate in an on-call rotation with escalation support for critical production issues
What you'll bring
- 5 years administering databases in an enterprise environment
- Deep Microsoft SQL Server expertise, including HA/DR architecture
- Advanced T-SQL and performance tuning
- Experience supporting 24x7 production systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must be a U.S. person as defined under ITAR
Nice to have
- Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or other hybrid/cloud database experience
- PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or Terraform automation
- Data warehousing or large-scale reporting environments
- DP-300, OCP, or AWS Database Specialty certification
