Our clients include publicly-traded BioPharma companies, venture capital firms, and global consultancies. As an Applied AI Engineer, you'll play a central role in developing the next generation of agentic systems that directly impact strategic decision-making in the biopharma industry.
About Maven Bio
Maven Bio is a YC-backed, late-seed stage, 10-person team in Boston building the market intelligence layer for life sciences AI. Pharma and biotech teams use Maven Bio daily to screen assets, build competitive landscapes, evaluate opportunities, and track their indications.
Three of the top 10 pharma companies are onboarded, and we have 20 enterprise accounts across pharma, professional services, and investing. Customers report a 40% reduction in low-level analytical work.
Our buyers are senior BD, CI, Strategy, and Investing leaders. This role builds the AI research agents and pipelines those buyers rely on every day.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and optimize Agentic pipelines
- Implement, experiment with, and optimize domain-specific information retrieval systems
- Leverage our proprietary biopharma market datasets to create high-reliability Agentic systems
- Own projects end-to-end, from conception to deployment, ensuring robustness, scalability, and accuracy
- Interface closely with our customers and internal teams to continuously refine product capabilities based on user feedback
- Collaborate directly with our CEO and technical leadership on strategic decisions and product development
Ideal Candidate
- Professional experience building agentic systems
- Proficiency with Python and TypeScript
- Experience designing and deploying LLM-driven features, particularly those utilizing tools
- Hands-on experience building agentic systems: planning, tool use, retrieval, and evals
- Familiarity with relational databases and infrastructure management on AWS
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and deeply engage with complex industries (biopharma experience is a significant plus)
- Proven record of shipping impactful features, with high attention to reliability and detail
- A builder mentality with side projects or professional experiences showcasing your ability to build
- You're in Boston or you're willing to relocate, you want to work in-person, and you are excited to work in a low-meeting, high-velocity environment
