Our growing general contracting client is looking for a Traveling Superintendent, with a focus on Public Healthcare and Veteran Affairs projects all over the US of $20mil . The qualified candidate will be asked to perform the following:
Role Description
The Traveling Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role based in Tucson Area. The Superintendent will oversee and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Key responsibilities include supervising daily operations, coordinating subcontractors and labor teams, enforcing safety protocols, reviewing blueprints and project specifications, and maintaining effective communication with clients, project managers, and stakeholders. The role also involves conducting quality control inspections and providing solutions to on-site challenges.
Qualifications
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and supervise all aspects of daily field operations
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with all project team members to maintain schedule, safety, budget, and quality goals
- Organize project work to ensure all construction aligns with contract documents
- Maintain working knowledge of owner contacts, subcontracts, and purchase orders
- Conduct on-site meetings with subcontractors, owners, and tradespeople
- Schedule and monitor field productivity
- Mentor and train project team members
- Oversee project startup, completion and close-out processes
- Maintain project documentation including change orders logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs
- Manage and resolve contractual issues
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Forecast project completion costs accurately
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
- Coordinate with Safety Manager to ensure compliance with all safety goals
Mandatory Qualifications
- 10 years of experience with a general contracting company
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Knowledge or familiarity with EM 385 and CQMC
- Experience managing large scaled public projects
- Experience with federal and healthcare projects (preferred/required as applicable
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and building systems
- Ability to read interpret, and execute work from drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and manage construction activities aligned with project requirements
- Proficiency in Procore or similar construction management software
- Ability to manage subcontractors, enforce contracts, and hold teams accountable
- Experience leading jobsite and owner meetings while communicating effectively with all stakeholders
- Familiarity with prevailing wage or union projects
- Ability to maintain daily reports, including site progress and photo documentation
- Willingness to travel nationwide as project needs require
