- Monday – Thursday 6:00 am – 4:00 pm & Friday overtime when available
Position Summary
The Remanufactured Rack Core Check-In Technician is responsible for receiving, inspecting, identifying, and processing incoming steering rack cores for remanufacturing operations. This position ensures cores are accurately documented, sorted, and routed according to company quality standards and production requirements. The technician plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting efficient production flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive incoming rack and pinion steering cores from customers and suppliers.
- Unload, inspect, and verify shipments against packing slips and purchase documentation.
- Identify steering rack cores by part number, application, and condition.
- Perform visual inspections to determine rebuildability and core acceptance status.
- Tag and classify cores according to company procedures and quality standards.
- Record and enter core information into inventory or ERP systems accurately.
- Separate damaged, non-rebuildable, or incorrect cores for further review.
- Maintain organization of incoming core inventory and storage areas.
- Communicate discrepancies, shortages, or damaged shipments to supervisors.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures, housekeeping requirements, and company policies.
- Support other production and warehouse functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous automotive, warehouse, manufacturing, or remanufacturing experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of automotive steering or suspension components is helpful.
- Ability to identify automotive parts and use part number systems.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Forklift experience REQUIRED.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand / walk for up to 9 hours a day
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to grease, oil, and industrial equipment.
Work Environment
- Warehouse setting.
- Exposure to automotive fluids, machinery, and moving equipment.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
