THE MAURY SERVICE AUTHORITY is looking to fill the full-time position of ENGINEERING MANAGER. This individual will lead and perform difficult and technical work overseeing, supervising, planning, organizing, and participating in the support of operations of the water and wastewater treatment systems and related infrastructure; and coordination of engineering and construction projects, maintaining records, and preparing reports. This role reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities Include: LeadEngineering Team in managing MSA Engineering agreements, Engineering Consultant tasks and associated projects as well as construction projects; Lead Engineering Team in successfully supporting the operations staff by sustainably providing clean water and complying with operating permit requirements; Make effective independent decisions related to day-to-day issues that do not require team discussion, input or agreement; Recommend changes in goals, policies, personnel, and equipment to maximize utilization of MSA resources in support of engineering tasks and construction projects; Plan, organize, supervise, direct, coordinate, and participate in managing MSA engineering agreements, engineering consultant tasks and associated projects, and construction projects for MSA facilities; and other tasks assigned by the Executive Director.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in biology, chemistry, water treatment, wastewater treatment, mathematics, engineering, and related field(s) with supervisory experience with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in engineering; or twenty (20) years of progressively responsible experience including at least 10 years of considerable supervisory experience and public utility management experience in Virginia.
Knowledge: Must have thorough knowledge of theory, principles, practices, and equipment of modern water/wastewater operations; knowledge of operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of water/wastewater treatment facility, sewer collection and conveyance, pumping systems; thorough knowledge of biological, chemical, hydraulic, physical, and mechanical principles pertinent to water/wastewater treatment; and thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations for federal and state regulations governing water/wastewater treatment and collection systems.
