ABOUT THE UNIT:
The Registrar's areas of technical competencies should include: Working knowledge of office equipment and computers, Medicare, TennCare, healthcare insurance payment methodologies, and financial assistance policies and procedures. General knowledge of hospital payment plan guidelines, hospital clinical departments and service protocols and healthcare coding practices. Strong negotiation and collection skills. Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor or staff while performing the tasks of pre-admitting, admitting and/or registering, routing or escorting patients, family or visitors. Register patients to receive medical services, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Obtain demographic information, validate insurance, and collect payments. Answer and/or refer questions received from patients, visitors, and staff. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred
1 Year Related Experience Preferred
