- Enforces adherence to established rules and regulations of the in-school suspension program and creates an effective climate for learning.
- Serves as a liaison between the classroom teacher and students assigned to ISS to obtain and return the student's daily class work and homework.
- Assists students assigned to ISS with completing their regular classroom assignments.
- Communicates appropriate behavior, school rules, and regulations to students in the program; and explains to students the reasons for suspension and its impact on their education.
- Guides and encourages students to develop a positive attitude toward learning.
- Refers behavior problems to Assistant Principal.
- Ensure students have faculty or staff escorts to facilities outside the ISS classroom.
- Facilitate and arrange delivery of student lunches when necessary.
- Maintains daily attendance and other records of students assigned to ISS.
- Must be able to handle and react to potential volatile situations and take appropriate action.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality with student and staff information.
- Must be courteous, professional, and respectful when communicating with parents.
- Works with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with others, and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal
