Department: Diagnostic Overall Purpose of the Position:
The Diagnostic Scheduler is responsible for scheduling and assisting with prior authorization referrals for various radiologic, CT, MRI, and diagnostic examinations. While providing customer service, the scheduler must interact and communicate with patients, their family, providers, and department and office staff. The Diagnostic Scheduler will also perform clerical tasks to assist with all areas of the department.
Major Job Responsibilities: Percentage: 40%
Minimum Qualifications: Desired Skills & Knowledge:
Radiology scheduling experience.
Basic knowledge of radiologic practices, human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. Knowledge of radiation and MRI safety.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English; follow oral and written instructions precisely; get along well with others; and demonstrate an attitude of respect and professionalism.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Employees must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.
The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays.
Hourly Rate
Starting @ $19.83; based on experience

Major Job Responsibilities: Percentage: 40%
- Exam Scheduling
- Proficient use of department computers, phones, printers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Receives and confirms patient information and verifies the procedure prescribed.
- Inputs and schedules patient in designated systems following guidelines.
- Understands/learns CPT and ICD-10 codes to validate appropriateness.
- Coordinates scheduling with radiologists and technologist schedules.
- Advanced imaging prior authorizations and referrals
- Reviews referrals from ordering providers for medical necessity.
- Obtains prior authorization from various insurance companies.
- Clerical Duties and Medical Records
- Checks-in patients and assists them thru their visit.
- Creates fee tickets for required studies
- Handles and distributes department mail, faxes, subpoenas, and radiology medical records requests. This includes duplication of images.
- Answers and assist with Radiology or Diagnostic inquiries.
- Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on a timely basis, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Takes initiative in problem solving, maintains confidentiality of patient and company information, and interacts with patients, co-workers, and management in a courteous and respectful manner. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Attendance - Maintains standards consistent with company policy.
