What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care & Enrichment Manager position at Maui Humane Society?
Maui Humane Society is an open-admissions animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. We provide veterinary and routine care and help surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, education and outreach, programs to retain pets in their families, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. We're excited to welcome you as our next Animal Care & Enrichment Manager focused on cats and other small animals. You will be responsible for ensuring quality care of thousands of animals, both in the shelter and temporary foster homes. As a supervisor, you will lead the team, providing training, evaluations, and guidance, ensuring adherence to organizational policies. Additionally, you will manage the budget, maintain accurate animal records, support process improvements and workflows. You're expected to collaborate closely with the other Animal Care & Enrichment Managers and Shelter Director to address intradepartmental needs and projects.
To be successful in this role you'll need to have (minimum qualifications):
- Experience in an animal shelter, especially open admittance shelter or public shelter
- Experience in professional animal handling
- Familiarity with animal diseases and behavior
- Leadership experience in projects or teams
We'd love it if you already had (desired qualifications):
- Experience in shelter databases (PetPoint preferred)
- Experience in high volume cat populations
- Experience handling companion animals beyond cats and dogs (rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, birds, etc)
- Fear Free Certification
- Direct supervisory experience, in animal welfare highly preferred

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
